On an ever-increasing basis YAL are asked to provide logistical assistance for the movement of abnormal cargoes. One recent example involved the movement to final site of a complete new Air Conditioning plant for a major department store.

The units arrived into Southampton in a number of containers, which we arranged to transfer to our depot based in the Eastern Docks where each unit was unloaded and handled with the utmost care and attention prior to being stored undercover for 24 hours.

The full compliment of units were loaded in sequential order onto a number of specially prepared flat bed trailer combinations ready for the long trip to final site where craneage was waiting to lift the units to their new home on the stores roof.

One of the many challenges that we had to overcome with this shipment was to arrange the temporary closure of a high street for a few hours on a peak Saturday morning to allow the trailers safe access to the final delivery site. With the assistance of the local council and police authority this was arranged and carried out without incident.
